While Griffiths Observatory is closed, you can still hike to the top and take in a great sunset. The park is very dog friendly, but note as soon as sunset hits, you will hear coyotes. Always keep your dogs on a leash when in the park. Many animals live in the park and your dog should not be one of them.

You can use the map below to navigate to the park, but here are directions that are super easy.

At the intersection of Los Feliz Blvd and Fern Dell, head north on Fern Dell.

Once you get to The Trails cafe find a parking space.

From there, head into the dirt trail to the right (east) and start walking north. You’ll walk for 1.3 miles uphill, but not too hard. You want to wear good shoes.

There is a lot at the top of the observatory, but sometimes it’s not open.

Once you get to the top, you can walk around (even during the pandemic) and take photos of the city and the Hollywood Sign.
